Alkoomi Blackbutt 2008

Subtle perfume initially - a little dusty, violets and a smokey edge - faint.

Constituent varieties are writ large on the palate: creme de cassis, a little pastille; tannin is minimal, yet present, a drying chalky tannin.

Wine shows a little iron/ ferrous note too. Smooth, powerful through the finish. Lovely balance of those two qualities. Subtle length, yet persistent. 92 - Very Good

Tasted on: Sunday 14th April, a Fruit Day
