BK Wines Sparks Grenache 2013
Scant information available on the production, other than 100% whole bunch. That much is apparent on introducing one's self to the wine, with stemmy/sappy elements immediately making themselves known. Background fruit in the mix, nested with a little spice and cherry bakewell character.
On entry, it's light and lithe before chalky tannin dominates. Drying the mouth out before moving to raspberry and a suggestion of darker, black fruit and a pop of cranberry acidity.
Intriguing tannin structure, dominating initially, subsiding with a little time - the wine was tasted over two days as per house rules - allowing fruit to express itself to a greater degree. It's an interesting approach to McLaren Vale, and Blewitt Springs Grenached, with the use of whole bunch overlaid on the light and elegant fruit present. 91+
