Chapel Hill McLaren Vale Shiraz 2012

This one had me guessing, open for three days and I am none the wiser as to where I think it will settle. It's a quality release, don't get me wrong, but the plus sign could equally be a +/-.

Fresh, primary plum, and damson with a smoky, almost meaty approach to it. With time it seems fresher, more floral. Tannin is exquisitely fine, so much so it feels like a carbon/graphite laden structure.

Blue fruits slowly reveal themselves with time in glass/bottle, as do suggestive choc-chicory bitterness. A complex little beast. I'm still a little unsure how I feel about it. I've opted for the upper score I wrote down. 91+
