Yelland and Papps Second Take Grenache 2013

The Grenache is the pick of the '13 Second Pick releases for me - a case of Primus inter pares' rather than it standing head and shoulders above stable mates Roussanne and Shiraz.

Enticing aromatics from the get go, moving to a composed palate, silken threaded, elegant. Milk chocolate, coffee grounds, sugar plum, blue fruits and florals. It's complex without being over-bearing, engaging and a delight to drink from the off.

Elegant palate structure, a sense of ease and perpetual flow. Acid is present, in the sense of refreshment, it aids to balance and presence. Finishes with length, a gentle flow of flavour. 94
