I must confess that my head has been turned in favour Hills Cabernet of late, a run of some good vintages and having seen some progression of the variety - admittedly notedly from K1. I opted to open the 2010 and 2012 (here) side-by-side, sighted - that is not served 'blind'.Attractive bouquet garni aromatics, herbal with floral elements by way of some violets. Toasty oak tickles the nasal cavity, choc-mint in the mix also.
Black fruits general - veering to defined blackcurrant - vanilla oak, firm of tannin. Acid still shows its hand. Length is somewhat generous, residual oak and toast. Solid. 91
