I've had to go on a bit of a diet of late, sometimes the enjoyment of life takes its toll. Paired this with some (diet version) Veal meatballs - a rather delicious pairing.
Good Tempranillo just invites you in, regardless of the style aimed at typically offers an abundance of fruit. Here, this example from the Adelaide Hills, offers that with coffeed and subtle woody hints, lending a savoury bent.
Before you even take the wine into the mouth it's as if the subtle pop of blueberry is bursting in anticipation. Inherently sweet fruited, that mix of forest fruits, no holds barred in its primary assault. A little sweet spice just adds to the equation.
For all that it lacks a driving final third, like the footy team that creates chances aplenty, but fails to convert. And as those teams are often a pleasure to watch, so it goes that this is also an absolute pleasure to drink. 90
