"Taste Me, Taste Me!
Succumb to me, Succumb to me!"
~ Prodigy, Serial Thrilla
Anyway, the wine in question spends a whopping 25 months in French and American, of which 50% new. It's funny to, now at least, think two years under wood a long term given the current vogue for fresher, drink-now styles. Good to see this regional flag-bearer still marching to its own tune.
Sullen, reserved, what is present is a mass of black fruit framed up with toasty oak, leather, figginess.
Lighter of body than anticipated. Disarming in some respects. The expected black fruit is present in spades: cassis, raspberry, currants. Ultra fine choc-tannin bound up in more of that black fruit, a freshening resurgence slight choc-salinity. Generous, good length. 92
