Merlot in Australia can show its true colours and intent just on aroma alone, in my less than humble.

Medium bodied, freshening acidity and fine tannin. Well made Merlot, all too rare in Australia - but that position is improving as winemaker's get a handle on the variety and clonal selection gets better.
