Zonte's Footstep Lake Doctor Shiraz 2013

The Lake Doctor is a cooling breeze that comes off Lake Alexandria and offers vines, and vignerons, respite from the summer heat. Here honoured by Zonte's Footstep with their Langhorne Creek Shiraz.

Unusually sent alongside the 2017 release of the same wine, as a means to assess the longevity (cellarability) of the wine.

At six years of age it's time for the fruit to take a back seat. Step forward those savoury and secondary aromas, more earthen with blackcurrant hints that give rise, or suggest, something like beetroot.

Light and fleet of foot across the palate, darker edges make themselves known, flashes of chocolate and crushed rocks. Latent hints of something like cherry liqueur still adding a little freshness. 90

Tasted on: Thursday 27th June, a Leaf to Fruit day
Source: Sample
Price: $25 (at release, no longer offered for sale)
