Rusty Mutt Vermilion Bird 2014

One might suggest the retail price is squarely aimed at wealthy buyers from a certain overseas market where the number 8 is considered good luck. It appears to have been a good ploy, the wine is now sold out ex-winery - and fully justified in its asking price.

Certainly a dense and - some might say - hedonistic wine. Not a pejorative statement, it's tight and somewhat coiled.

Tannin is fine, perhaps a touch of boozy warmth across the palate, a minor consideration on a lasting length that yields to none. 94

Tasted on: Friday 28th February
Source: Sample
Price: $88
