Gartelmann Georg Petit Verdot 2016

Often the bridesmaid, never the bride - except here, in this ripe and robust offering from Rylstone - an unofficial sub-region of Mudgee region.

Petit Verdot is often considered the 'bridesmaid' of what might be considered the Bordeaux varieties. Here it's presented as a stand alone single varietal, in a rich and ripe guise. Dark and vibrant fruit, hints of oak remnants, associated spice.

The fruit presence is what makes the wine stand out, for all its ripeness it's still in balance. Good wine 91.
