Germany's most widely planted red variety, establishing itself on the Apple Isle via the brothers Hughes.
It's mostly whole Berry with a small (5%) amount of whole bunch. It's fresh and youthful, with that rawness of youth coming through on the palate.
Yes there's a riotous mix of berry fruit asserting itself, but it's really about the fine and smokey-minerally tannins that entice. Weighing in a a mere 12.6% it's a great luncheon option, something lightish, perhaps duck rillettes with a little red cabbage for good measure. 92
